Follow-up by text
Missed-call text back for dealerships: the caller who hung up gets one useful text, not a blast.
Some callers hang up before anyone helps them. At stores with texting switched on, Cleo can text a caller who dropped out mid-booking and pick up where the call left off, or text a caller who hung up before saying what they needed. It skips anyone who opted out, any call it has already texted about and, for a caller who hung up before saying what they needed, anyone already in touch.

Why a second chance matters
A caller who hangs up leaves your team nothing to chase.
13%
of service customers disconnected before the service department offered an appointment in 2024
9%
disconnected before an appointment was offered in 2025
A caller who drops out leaves nothing for your team to chase: no voicemail, no name, and no way to know whether they booked somewhere else. The gap is real but shrinking. Every caller who still drops out is a lead your team has no way to follow up. The question is whether anything follows them.
After the call ends
A caller who dropped out mid-booking. A caller who hung up before saying why they called.
Hung up mid-booking
When a caller wanted a service appointment and the call ended before anything was booked, Cleo can open a text conversation about that call. It leads with what it already knows from the call and asks for one missing detail at a time. With some schedulers a booking can be finished by text: Cleo offers at most two open times, re-checks that the chosen time is still open before booking, asks before creating a duplicate when an appointment already exists, and if the booking fails says the service team will finish it, without retrying.
Hung up before saying what they needed
When the call ends before the caller said what they needed, Cleo can text a short opening: “Hi, this is Cleo from your dealership. I noticed we missed connecting on your recent call. How can I help you today?” The dealership’s name is filled in.
Both texts go out only at stores with texting switched on.

The guardrails
When Cleo stays quiet.
01 · Not switched on, not allowed
At a store without texting switched on, nothing is sent. Cleo does not text a number that has opted out, nor a customer whose thread your staff closed or switched AI off for. At a store that requires consent, a text goes out only if the caller agreed on that same call. Consent from another call never counts.
02 · Already in touch
For a caller who hung up before saying what they needed, the text is skipped if the customer called again in the last three hours, a task was opened for them in that window, or they were texted in the last day.
03 · Nothing to add
Each call gets at most one opening text, and a retry finds the queued text and does not send a second. For a caller who dropped out mid-booking, if they already heard an outcome on the call, such as a callback or a waitlist spot, Cleo is told to say nothing rather than repeat it or reopen the booking, and if the first text goes unanswered, Cleo is told not to send another.
Cleo may also choose to send nothing at all.
