Tire and alignment service calls
Tire and alignment calls: what Cleo books, what goes to parts, and what your advisors answer
Tire and alignment calls mix several jobs on one line: a quick rotation, a set of tires, and a car that drifts to one side. Cleo books the visit the scheduler can take, transfers parts questions to your parts desk and price questions to your service team. It has no tire size, brand or stock lookup.

The short answer
Can an AI phone agent handle tire and alignment calls?
It can handle the booking and the routing. At stores on some scheduler workflows, Cleo files a tire rotation as scheduled maintenance and a symptom the caller wants diagnosed, such as vibration, as a diagnostic, and matches the request to your scheduler's service codes.
Cleo has no tool for tire sizes, brands, stock or sensors. Anything that needs the tire itself, or a technician's judgment, stays with your team.
What happens to each kind of tire call
Six calls your service line gets, and what happens to each.
The caller wants a tire rotation with their service.
At stores on the workflows that do this, Cleo files it as scheduled maintenance, matches it to your scheduler's service codes, reads the open times your scheduler returns and books the time the caller picks.
The caller wants new tires, or an alignment.
On one scheduler workflow, when the service list has these codes, Cleo matches the number of tires the caller wants to the code for that number and an alignment to the alignment code. A tire request with no number, a tire rotation or anything else it cannot match goes to the store's diagnosis code instead of a guess.
The caller says the steering wheel shakes, or the car drifts to one side.
At stores on those workflows, Cleo files a symptom the caller wants diagnosed as a diagnostic and books the visit. It does not diagnose the vehicle.
A tire pressure warning comes on.
Cleo's live winter page lists this as one of the calls a cold morning brings. Cleo has no tire pressure sensor lookup, so it books or routes the visit and leaves the reading to your team.
The caller asks whether you have a tire in stock, or what it costs.
Cleo has no tire lookup. On its parts-inquiry workflow it is told it cannot answer parts availability, price or order questions, and it transfers the caller to the parts department, or takes a callback if parts is unavailable.
The caller asks what an alignment costs.
On its price-question workflow Cleo does not quote a price, an estimate or a range. It transfers the caller to the service team, and if that is unavailable it switches to a callback request.

Proof · Real dealership
Tire calls are one slice of a bigger line.
At El Cerrito Honda, in the measured 30 day period, Cleo answered 633 calls across sales, service and parts, and completed 143 transfers. This covers all departments and all call types, not tire calls.
After the call
What your team gets, and what to decide first.
01 · When the schedule is full, the schedule decides.
Cleo reads the open times the scheduler returns, offers the nearest alternatives when the caller’s time is taken, and offers a callback when no time is open. It cannot create capacity that is not in the schedule.
If a booking fails, Cleo does not say it is booked and does not retry. It creates a callback task for your staff.
A callback request takes the caller’s name, a callback number and a note, then creates a task for your staff.
02 · The right desk, with the reason written down.
Cleo transfers only to a person or desk on your directory list that is open at that moment. A desk that is not on the list counts as unavailable, and the caller is offered a callback instead.
On a warm transfer, Cleo holds the caller, briefs the person who answers using the reason for the transfer, and then connects the caller.
Task types are set up by your dealership, each task keeps its type, and you choose who is notified, who takes tasks in turn and when a task escalates.
Which workflows a store uses is set up per dealership, so ask which tire and parts steps your store would have.
03 · Five questions for your service manager.
1. Who answers a tire question today: service, parts or the tire desk?
2. Does your scheduler list tire and alignment services, and under which names?
3. Which tire calls need a person every time?
4. What should a caller hear when no time is open this week?
5. Which desk is on your directory for tire questions, and when is it open?
FAQ
Still have questions?
Can Cleo book a tire rotation?
At stores on the workflows that file it as scheduled maintenance, yes: Cleo matches the request to your scheduler's service codes, reads the open times your scheduler returns and books the time the caller picks. On one scheduler workflow a rotation is not an exact code and goes to the store's diagnosis code, so ask which applies to your store.
Can Cleo check whether we have a tire in stock?
What does Cleo do with a request for new tires?
Will Cleo quote an alignment price?
What if the service department is closed?
Cleo does not attempt a transfer to a closed department. It says so and offers a callback or to take a message. If the caller wants a time, Cleo offers to book the appointment.
